Presenting……. The 2017 Engineering Design Video Contest!!
For a $500 prize, this year we challenge Lassondians to address or discuss or give an example of: ![]()
“The Impact of Design Engineering on the Environment and Society of Ontario” by making a 60 second video
That’s it! Pretty easy. DEADLINE – Monday April 3rd !
You can refer to all of Ontario, or a region (like the GTA), or just a specific town or example. Scroll down for some video inspiration.

Email the YouTube link of your video entry to yorkdesigneng@gmail.com, subject: “2017 Video Contest” to confirm submission
Include your name, YorkU student ID, major and year of study.

How to Enter:
1) Upload your video entry to YouTube.
- a) Email the link to your YouTube video entry to yorkdesigneng@gmail.comwith subject line: ‘2017 Video Contest’ to confirm submission – Include your name, YorkU student ID, major and year of study
- b) The video will become a “favourite” on the YorkDesignEng YouTube Channel upon being reviewed.
- Wait to hear if you were one of the selected finalists!
- The top 3 videos will be exhibited and the winner will be announced.
*Participants must be currently enrolled in the undergraduate engineering program at Lassonde School of Engineering at York University.
*Number of Submissions. Videos may be submitted as an individual and as a team; two entries per person or team allowed
* Video Style: Videos must contain appropriate language (no profanities) or they will be disqualified. Creativity is encouraged and we welcome all styles of video (animation, documentary, slideshow voiceover, interview, one-man show, sock-puppets or whatever else you can imagine.)
*Criteria: Length -> no longer than 60 seconds ; Content -> must address the topic/theme and relate to Design Engineering ; Ability to -> answer contest question clearly and make a convincing case ; Creativity/Presentation -> Creativity to package and present a video response considering all the above
*Prize: The contest winner/winning team will win a cash prize of $500, their video will be recognized by the school and featured on the Design website and YouTube page
*Contest Overview: The purpose of the contest is to get engineering students to submit a video about design engineering. By submitting a video on the YouTube Contest Page, you are agreeing to place your video online for public viewing. All entries will be screened for appropriateness and those deemed ineligible will be removed immediately. Each submission must be related to design engineering. Creativity and presentation skills will be taken into consideration. Participants are encouraged to do their own research and put together a convincing case. The contest’s objective is to foster a greater understanding of the place of engineering design in the world, so that students may be aware of what design engineering has to off them in their studies and in the real world.
Winning video will be featured on the YorkDesignEng YouTube channel and the DesignEngineering website.
